Portland Marathon Finisher Medal

I designed the finisher medals for the Portland Marathon. There were around 10,000 participants that ran this race. I designed a medal for three different distances; Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K
My concept was an elegant flower in honor of The Rose City. I wanted to not just do a rose but something more creative. I looked at a lot of Tutor era designs to seek inspiration for this medal.
Programs Used
The Half Marathon uses a silver antique finish. It used teal enamel which is a brand color. There's also a dark blue enamel used in the middle for the logo to help it pop. The enamel isn't overbearing but was used strategically. Many race medals overuse enamel which feels lazy and cheap.
The 10K is a bronze finish but still uses the same design as the other medals. I use an antique finish to make them feel a little nicer. These medals are also a few cementers thick which helps it feel larger. These are all things to consider when producing the medals. All these little details go a long way in the overall care for a finisher medal.
